Good Bye Friends!

This weekend we had a going away party for one of my really close friends out here. Her husband did Med school out here, and now they are off to residency. We have been doing play dates almost every week for over a year now, and has become such a great friend. I will be sad to see her go!

The party was a lot of fun, we did a scavenger hunt around DC and then ended by having a picnic on the National Mall
Here was our team... The WINNING team! We were called Kyles angels.
My dear friend Corie! You will be missed in DC!

Madi makes it to the Big Apple

Last weekend my parents came into town, and we went to New York for the weekend. Sadly, Bryan had to work, so we had to go without him. We packed a lot in for only being there a few days. We did a beautiful night tour of New York, we went to china town, little Italy, time square, central park, we saw the temple, and drove by a lot of fun stuff!

Below is a park pit stop in Chinatown

We were amazed at how close they park. They front of the smart car is under the big wheel on that car. How do they get out???
When we were at central park, Madi just laid herself down on the floor like this, I guess she was tired!
 Time Square
The New York Temple. It is just another part of the city, connected to all the other buildings. This was actually the whole reason for the trip too, my parents are on a goal to visit and take a picture of all the temples in the US.
 Central park
Time Square... These characters go around and hop in every ones picture and then ask for a tip. This one managed to jump in right in front of my mom, ruined the pic, and then wanted a tip. Not a tip we were happy to pay!
At the train station, heading over to New York.

Dunkin cookies

Tonight Bryan taught Madi a life lesson... how to dunk a cookie in milk. She caught on quickly and was very thorough with her dunk. It was more of a cookie, hand and wrist dunk. She was pleased with the results. (Which makes me out numbered because I don't particularly like cookies dunked in milk)

And thats how its done... no wonder she wasn't too hungry for dinner.

Saturday we got to spend an afternoon with Daddy, a rarity this month to say the least. We decided to go downtown and enjoy the nice weather. Bryan and Madi slipped off their shoes and relaxed in the fountain at the sculpture garden. By the end Madison was soaked, with an extremely soggy diaper.

After, Daddy decided Madi needed a treat after she went up to several people eating and watching them eat. He came up with getting her a classic bomb pop. Maybe not the best idea, but she loved it. She was a sticky slobbery mess.

White House Easter Egg Roll

On Monday me and Madison got to go to the 2012 White House Easter Egg Roll. This is an event that has been going on for over a hundred years where children get to go on the White House lawn and roll Easter eggs. Now they have a lot more to it than that, but the traditional Easter egg roll still remains. The people I nanny for were able to snag tickets last minute and invited me and Madi to go, which was so thoughtful of them! It was so fun to be so close to the White House, and to actually be on the lawn!
Below is the entrance to the egg roll.
You can see here just how close we were!
Here is Madi doing the Easter egg roll. She made up her own rules. You are supposed to take a spoon and roll the egg down the lawn, but instead Madi did it as follows:
1st she decides she needs 2 eggs
So she decides to bend down and get it...
And then runs to the finish line!!
Oh shoot, I rolled my ankle...
She's down...
And then comes back up with her shoe and yells "Suu" (Shoe)
It cracked me up!
Here is a shot of the press
Here is the President and his family coming out to say Hi.

By the end, this is how Madi was feeling though! A little wired, hungry and tired!

Happy Easter!

This year for Easter we have been reading what Christ was going through on each day leading up to today. It was so nice to reflect on His last week of life and to remember all Christ has done for us. I am so grateful for our Savior and for His sacrifice for all of us.

Of course Easter brings with it fun and tradition as well. Our friends have an Eggstravaganza party each year that we attended. Bryan wasn't able to go because of his crazy schedule. he is working nights on trauma which has been less than desirable for him. Any who, they had an Easter bunny come, which caused all the kids to cry! It was kind of funny but after a little while Madi warmed up to the Easter bunny and offered it a peace offering.

Every year my Grandma has a tradition where she gets all the Grand kids their Easter outfits for church. She did it for us growing up, and now she is doing it for our babies. She always makes sure they are dressed to perfection! This year she got Madi this super cute white dress, and Madi looked like a little princess! (Look at those curls!)

Happy Easter Everyone!

This last week was packed with fun. First off, Tyler and Kelly came into town which was a blast. So fun, that I didn't have a chance to take a single picture. We went to some great dinners, enjoyed some music and a kite festival on the national mall, and just spending time together. It really was so fun! Madi also got to go to a farm, where she saw chickens, turkeys, horses, pigs, cows, geese ect... but she was walking around saying "puppy"in a really high voice to all the animals. She also got to go on a tractor ride, and I got to milk a cow which was kind of gross.

Madi also went to a birthday party at the zoo. Here she is with the other little girl I nanny after the party in their party hats. They wore them the rest of the day and had such a fun time at the party!
Our child digging through the trash... I guess the statement one mans trash is another mans treasure holds true here!
One of the things Madi likes is for Bryan to push her  around the house really fast in this box. Oh what fun a diaper box can bring!

Cherry Blossoms!

This year is the 100th anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. I decided to mix a little nanny work with fun and go and visit it with a friend. It was really pretty, and fun to walk around and see it. The kids had fun, although I wouldn't beable to convince you with the photo below that they did!

Here is one facing the Jefferson memorial.
Here we are having a snack break in the grass. Madi is really into sticks these days.
