There have been a few new changes lately. I have started a nanny job watching a cute little 2 year old 3 days a week. It has been really fun to have Madison play with the little girl. It is so fun to be able to stay with Madison too! Bryan is on his ENT rotation (Ear, Nose, Throat) Which has been good as well.

Watching a Dora with Madi is one of the only ways to snuggle with her for a few minutes. (Being sick is another, its a bitter sweet!)

Madi's hair is long enough to put into little pig tails. My sis-in-law did it when we were in AZ, and I have been trying to do it ever since. This day she had them ripped out in about 2 minutes.

This I though was strange. When I went to get her out of her crib this day she had one arm out of her jammies. The zipper and button were still up, so how she managed to weasel that arm out, I have no idea. I am sure it was not easy.

Madison really turned one. We can't believe how fast this year has gone. She has been the best blessing that we could have ever asked for. She has brought so much joy and happiness into our lives! Bryan had the day off, which was fun. We went to a place called Rock Creek Park and played there for a while, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather we are having.

Happy New Year! 2011 has been a great year. We welcomed Madison into our lives, I finished nursing school, and Bryan become one year closer to being done with residency. We have truly been blessed this year, and are excited to see what 2012 will bring us!

To celebrate, we started New Years Eve by going to this fun little area where there are walking trails, and the Potomac River where we fed the ducks (and seagulls). It was 60 degrees, and sunny. It was the perfect day to be outside.

When we fed the ducks all these birds came and would dive catch the bread in their mouths. It was pretty cool. I think we were more excited about it than Madison.

Then to finish off the night we had some of our good friends come over for food and games to bring in the New Year.

Be prepared for a picture overload. I wanted to put a lot more, but decided not too. This last week, we were able to go to Arizona for Christmas. We haven't been home for the last 2 Christmas's so it was really fun to finally be able to make it home this year. My brother from Michigan also got to come home, which was really fun. The first Sunday we were there, he blessed his son Jet. Family on my Dad's side came down for it. I hadn't a most of them in several years, so it was so nice to be able to reunite for the special occasion.

Santa made a visit to my moms house while we were down. All the girls dressed in there Christmas jammies! I love how Madi is laying here!

Madi also got to have a B-day party thanks to Kelly for suggesting the good idea. I can't believe she is almost ONE!!

We also went to ride the Polar Express!!! It was the cutest thing ever. You get on a train, they give you cookies and hot chocolate, they read the Polar express, you go to the North pole, see Santa, and then sing Christmas Carols all the way back. Madi loved it! This is what we got my parents and grandparents this year for their Christmas gift.

Then we had the Christmas Eve eve with Bryan's family where we had a game of white elephant, great food, and Joker.

Christmas eve we went and sang and passed out gifts at a homeless shelter, and then came back to my parents house to open presents, and watch Christmas Vacation. Madi got the hang of opening her presents. It was so cute!

We are so happy we were able to spend this special season with friends and family.

We had the wonderful opportunity to go home for Thanksgiving this year, and we had so much fun visiting with family, enjoying perfect weather, and eating amazing food.

Here is Madison, Ranie, and Tessa helping put candy stockings together for the homeless. Tessa was an all star helper, and Ranie helped babysit Madison. Madison loved the suckers and the nerds. It was so cute to see how much she loved the candy, and her cousins!

These last few weeks have been great. Bryan had a particularly good week, because he was the head resident for a week, while the others were out of town. He got to cut a bunch of cases, and loved it! Me and Madi have been busy having play dates, going to story times, parks, swimming, reading books, and eating. She has 4 teeth coming in up top, and she got Mastitis, a breast infection, which is really weird and sad. She is on an antibiotic now though and doing much better. She also LOVES Dora the explorer. If I put it on she squeals in delight.

Our friends let us borrow this walker for Madi, and she is a huge fan!

CNN came to our ward a few times to get an idea of who the LDS are, because of the 2 presidential nominations who are Mormon. Our ward has been such a great experience, and one that we will never get again. It isn't always easy, but it is definitely wonderful! Here is there blog entry on it.

Me and Madison went to Michigan last week to visit my brother and sister-in-law. Well, my brother is a general surgery resident, and so basically we didn't see much of each other but what we did see was great. We hadn't seen each other in over a year. They work him to the bone. Me and Mandy got to have a lot of fun though. I got to meet their new son Jet. We went to a fun pumpkin patch type thing where we got AMAZING pumpkin donuts and apple cider. Madison did not sit still once on the plane. She is a wiggle worm. She also decided to scream from 1:20 to 4 the first night. Yes, Scream. It was nice for everyone. I then noticed that she was cutting a tooth the next day, hopefully that was why! Regardless, it was a fabulous trip!

This has been a big week. Madison said goodbye to her daycare friend, and I FINALLY finished NURSING SCHOOL!

Here is Madison outside of her daycare she went too. It ended up being the perfect situation. She was flexible with my schedule, conveniently located, and super sweet. It am grateful I found her.

Isn't she so cute??? She is getting so much spunk and cuteness to her.

Here she is on our patio playing and getting some beautiful fresh fall air. It has been in the 70's and all the leaves are changing!

This is Madi's new thing. She puckers her lips and squinches her nose, and then breathes really hard out of her nose. It is so funny and cute.

This was a night where Bryan was so cute. I had quickly made spaghetti,so we could both get back to work. Madison was taking a snooze, and Bryan says " Can we please wake up Madi to have her eat with us. Kids love spagetti, and I know she is going to love it, I just want her to try it. So he runs in there all excited to get her up and have her try spagetti. She did love it. Bryan loves his Maddles!

It feels like a lot has been happening lately. Madison had her first real sickness, which has been sad to see. Our usual bubbly and active baby has been so lethargic and sleepy with high fevers. We didn't want to take her to daycare so Bryan got home in the morning after working all night and not sleeping at all to care for her while I went to school. He is the best and loves his maddles! I finish nursing school next Friday. Crazy right? It went by soo fast! We are thinking my next step is to get my RN to BSN out here, so it's all done when we move. Bryan is on the ICU (intensive care unit) and it has been long hours, but is going fast.

Also Madison is 9 months now!!! She has experienced every month but November and December now, and I think she is going to like them! Here we are on a typical day downtown again. As you may have noticed it is a go to thing we love to do.

Last weekend it got cold, so Madi got to bundle up all cute in her snugly clothes and hat! This was during conference weekend, which happens to be one of our favorites!

Every night before Madi goes to bed we like to read her stories. It is such a fun time, because she sits still on my lap for like 2 minutes! a rarity with her.

Madison has had a very busy schedule. On top of growing, learning new things, eating new foods, napping, laughing, and jabbering she has found time to enjoy the National Zoo.

She has also learned how to clap. This is something she likes to do a lot, and takes this skill very seriously.

She is a frequent park visitor, and has a special spot in her heart for the swing, and for those wood chips she is constantly putting in her mouth.

She also went to her friends birthday party. I love how they all gathered around while she got ready to eat her very own cake!

She has also been having a love for stuffed animals. She likes to go up to them and tackle them. Its super cute.

This weekend we very last minute decided to go to Shenandoah. It's something we have been told is a must see around here, but just haven't gone. It was really beautiful and fun to get away. There is the skyline drive which was amazing, but our camera died.

My mom got to come in town last week, which was so fun. She was in town for about 5 days, and we made those days count. We went to Old town Alexandria to get some delicious salt water taffy and lunch, we went shopping, we went downtown, we went to Annapolis to go swimming, we played cards, and made dinners and exercised. We went on a fun nature walk type hike also in Virginia. It was so fun to have her around for the week!

We also got to take Madi to her first baseball game. It was the Nationals vs. the Diamondbacks. She loved it, we loved it, it was a nice night.

And lastly, we felt our first EARTHQUAKE yesterday. It was kind of wild. For me it sounded like someone was moving a HUGE piece of furniture and I was thinking what is that? Then the whole house started to shake. Then I think I started to shake! It ended up being minor, but it was a weird feeling at the time not knowing how bad it could be, and having no control over it. Bryan was having a consent signed by a patient during it. There was a little damage around the area, this is one house we saw. The temple spears fell off because of it.

This last weekend Brad and Shanna were able to come and visit us, which was a BLAST! We were able to try a bunch of great food, see a lot of great sites, and spend some great time together.

Sometimes there are nights in DC where it is so HOT that you are drinched in sweat within 30 seconds. Then there are other nights when everything is just kind of perfect. That was tonight. Tonight we took a nice stroll downtown, listened to jazz in the park, did some people watching and relaxed on the lawn. Madison took grass picking very seriously. She was pulling it up with both hands as fast as she could (and putting it in her mouth) and you could not get her to look up. It made us laugh!

Madison is 6 months and change now! She is seriously the best! She has in the last few weeks gone mobile. I swear before 6 months she could only roll over one way, and now she is sitting, crawling all over the place, pulling herself up on things to stand. It all happened with a blink of an eye. She loves going to the park, swimming, and playing with other kids. Every night we love playing with her and getting her to laugh. Children really are such a blessing!

This weekend has been super fun! Not only have we had both of our parents in town, but we have managed to get a little beach time in and got to go downtown for the 4th. The concert this year was really fun, and the fire works were great. We got to see steve martin and his band, josh groban, jordan sparks, little richie, the teacher from glee, and then I few people I didn't know. Here we are in the lawn area waiting for it to start.

Madison had SOOO much fun at the concert. She was cracking us up. She was all smiles and squeals. She LOVED the concert.

Madison is officially 5 MONTHS OLD! The time has gone by so fast and she is such a sweet heart. She has started sleeping through the night, she can scoot backwards and in circles, but doesn't get how to go forward yet. She started eating rice cereal for the first time, and was a fan of it. We love having her as part of our family!

This is just the beginning of our trip to Arizona. We had so much fun with our families! We got there on a Saturday and that night the Barney's thought it would be best if we all went up to their cabin, and indeed it was the best idea. It was so fun, and relaxing, and of course beautiful!

We have had a very eventful last three weeks. First of all, Erica my sister was able to come to DC and we were able to spend some much needed time together. We were able to get in so much fun stuff. The most fun though was just being able to hang out with each other.

Another Nursing class down, and one more tiny little 7 week course left and I am DONE!!! All of my class mates are graduated now, it will be weird to be there with out them. I made friends with some really great people.

Here we are Easter Sunday after church. Madison loves church. She loves looking around at everyone and getting them to smile at her.

My Grandma got her a super cute Easter dress!

Madison's favorite part of it was that she could eat it. Her dress was soaking wet because she was sucking on the frills all day!

We decided to get her a jumper because she seems to have a lot of energy. We thought this would be compact enough for a small apartment, but be fun for her to jump around in. I think it's going to be a hit.

Well, as you can clearly see things are going well. Nothing like a snuggy and a diet coke to kick off spring time. Madison is 3+ months now.. crazy! Bryan has been busy with all his residency shenanigans, and I have been taking care of Madi, and going to school. The weather is getting nice, and everything is in bloom. It is nice to go on walks and not have to bundle up anymore!

When Madi starts to get cranky she is usually ready for a nap, and loves to look at the crib mobile go round and round until she falls asleep

Ok, I didn't realize I was tired until I looked at this picture. I look like I am about to fall over! I need to shut the book and take a nap. Unfortunately now that I have started nursing school back up that probably won't happen. Dropping Madison off at day care is no fun, but I keep telling myself it's only for a little while.

For some reason this picture cracks me up. She is just this tiny little human sitting up as tall as she can and its like a foot. I am weird I know, but I think it is so cute!

My attempt to make tummy time enjoyable. It just doesn't seem to work. Does every one feel like horrible parents when they face tummy time or is it just us?

Blessing Day! Madison was blessed on March 6th, 2011. She didn't make a peep during the prayer! We were able to have family in town including Both sets of parents and my grandparents. It was so nice to have them here for this important and wonderful event. We are very grateful for the all the love and support we have. I couldn't help but feel so much love for our family, and for

Madison is officially 6 weeks old, and because she is growing up I decided she was ready to sit in the stroller like a big girl would. I hated that when we went on walks she would be in her car seat and couldn't see anything. She screamed the whole time I was strapping her in, but as you can see this is her at the end of our walk with a much better attitude.

She also sat in a bumbo chair for the first time. It's pretty cute!

With Valentines day approaching Madison new she needed to find a Valentine and FAST. She didn't want to be home alone eating chocolates and watching sappy love movies wishing her life would have been different.

Madison also got her first Valentines day card and money from Grammy and Papa Leavitt. She is very protective of her money and hopes to buy a generous candy stash with it someday... when she gets teeth (unless she gets a stash of fun dips minus the delicious white stick)

Madison has shifted into this earth life very well. She spends most of her time sleeping, eating, grunting or staring quietly alert.

My mom was able to come in town after Bryan went back to work which was so nice. It was great to have the help and company while I was still healing.

Madison has been having a hard time farting on her own, so Daddy helps her out. You just pull her legs back and out comes a toot, it has been a great bonding experience for the two of them.

We are so excited to have her on our family. These have been the best few days, this family stuff is pretty amazing!

First of all if you need any sound New Year advice this is probably who you should come to.

Next, we have had such a fun little holiday time here in DC. There have been a lot of fun gatherings and parties. Bryan's schedule hasn't been crazy so we get to spend time with eachother. Our friends took us to see the Messiah at the Kennedy center which was really good. I had never seen it before, but we think it would be a fun Christmas tradition.

The Oral surgeon I used to work for had a little holiday party, and invited me and Bryan. It was fun to see everyone again!

Bryans co-residents gave us a surprise baby shower, which was so thoughtful. They had a lot of fun little games, and it was fun to spend time with all of them. Bryan is so lucky to have such a good little "resident family."

Christmas eve we went downtown, to see all the Christmas decorations, and get in the Christmas spirit.

Then we drove to the temple to see the temple lights and watch the little peformance they were having that evening. It is always fun to be at the temple. Then we went to dinner, and finished the night with a competitive game of canasta. It's a card game my grandparents taught us, and we are hooked. We will one day fit in very nicely at the retirement community!

We also got a fun christmas package and were spoiled wrotten with all the Christmas gifts we got. It was such a fun and special christmas. We had our 5 year wedding anniversary as well!

Now it's count down time for baby. I get induced on wednesday and we are so excited. Can't believe the time is already here. We can't wait to meet you little madison!

It was so fun to get to go home this Thanksgiving and see family and friends. We didn't get to enjoy the holidays with family last year so we were really grateful to get to go home this year.

I got to have a baby shower while we were down as well. It's always fun to celebrate babies!

Some nice friends of ours gave us a little DC baby bash as well, so babies arrival has been officially celebrated!

So we have 3 and half weeks to go till we meet this little bundle of joy! We are super excited!

Well, this month was a blink of an eye for us. Bryan has been busy with work, and I have been busy with school and working as well. The fall season here is in full bloom, and it’s incredible! I got called to be the YW president last month, and Bryan got put in the Elders quorum presidency which has been fun. We are just a few months away from starting our little family which doesn’t seem possible, but we are very excited!

A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of having the Padres in town. We went to Annapolis for the first part of the day and then headed up to Baltimore to go to Fort Henry where they were having a celebration of the day Francis Scott Key wrote the national anthem. We also went out to eat, and visited this neat church, and just had a great time with them. My grandparents have been in town this whole week which has been super fun too. We have played lots of cards, done a little site seeing, a lot of visiting, and just enjoying each other’s company. We love having visitors!

I feel like we have been so slacking with our blogging so today will be a blog overload. About a month ago we had a wonderful visit from Lacy and Peter. We loved being able to spend time with them in DC!On another occasion we had a residency party at one of the attendings home. He has a home that he renovated from the 1700's and has a whole lot of land that we got to explore and have fun on.

We rode golf carts around all the trails, and made a stop at the vinyard to eat some grapes.We got a back of the truck tour of all the fun things his house had to offer.

We also got to Kings Dominion, with one of Bryans co-residents. It's like a 6 Flags meets sunsplash sorta thing. It was so fun, and the weather was amazing. The roller coasters were fun so I hear, but as Bryan says "You dont want to scramble the egg", so I stayed off most of the rides.

Last weekend I got to go to Michigan and visit Van and Mandy in there new city. It was so fun to see them, and spend time with them. They took me to a store that only has Christmas stuff all year round, and they have anything and everything you could possibly dream of that is Christmas. Then they took me to this German town, where we got some yummy fudge, and ate some good german food. I also got to see there town, and it was really cute.

A couple weekends ago I got to very last minute, catch a plane and have a girls weekend. My Mom had been planning this trip for a while and I told her I wouldn't know if I would be able to make it until last minute. Well, work told me they didn't need me monday or tues, so saturday morning I got a flight to leave that evening. It was a wonderful time to be on the west coast with the family!

A couple weekends ago we tried out a fun beach at thechesapeake bay. It is only 35 miles away from our house, and a fun place to hangout and go swimming. The sand kind of looks like dirt, but it is in deed sand

Bryan was on call for the 4th, but I coudn't miss going to the capital and seeing the fireworks, and seeing the concert. It was warm, but it was really fun.

Last weekend all of Bryan's faculty were nice enough to treat us all to a wonderful dinner a Morton's Steak house, where the fourth years "graduted" from there residency. It made us realize that one day that is actually going to be us! It is always fun to get together with all of the other residents they are a good group of people.

This week me and Bryan spent a much needed weekend together, we slept in, went out to eat (twice) went to the portait gallery museum, walked around, did a temple trip, and watched movies at home, and under Bryan's request we studied a little too. This is bryan at the all you can eat Indian food lunch buffet we went to for lunch.You can't tell from the picture but a couple nights ago I hit this bug with my shoe to kill it, and much to my surprise it lit up a flashing neon green color. It was crazy, I have never seen anything like it!

And of course last but not least we had say HAPPY FATHERS DAY to 2 WONDERFUL Dad's. Thanks for all you guys do for us, and your good examples to us. You guys are the BEST!

It was so fun for us to go to AZ and visit the family. Sometimes we wish we had more than 2 weeks off a year so we could see everyone more often. Here is a nice game of crochet that Brad started. We got to meet Wes and Ivy, and I failed to get a picture with Ivy, but she was soo cute! Congrats to the Langs, we are so happy for you and are so glad we got to meet her.

Grandpa Kirkland and Jeff came down for a quick visit, and it was really nice to see them too.

My whole family got to do a temple session together, which was really great. Especially because Van and Mand move to Michigan soon, and we may not be together as a whole family for a while.

We also got family pictures taken. These aren't them, this is just one I took with my camera.

I was able to have a girls lunch which was fun. Some of these gals I have not seen in a long time so it was fun to catch up.

Well, it was so fun to see everyone, and see what life will be like some day when bryan isn't working 100+ hours per week, and we think we are going to like it... A LOT!

This weekend Bryan's Co-resident got married. Their wedding was on the water front of the Chesapeake bay, and it was really beautiful. The weather was perfect as well. Well, we havn't posted anything much lately because basically our lives have manly been work work, and more work. With that said we have tried to throw in a little date night here and there. We re-signed our year long lease which seems crazy that we have been here for almost a year! It has been a great place to live. Bryan has been able to start doing more complicated surgeries, and he is loving it. I have my first year of nursing school under my belt which has been busy and good. Overall we are loving the DC life.

This is a fun little walk across a bridge, the veiw is the washington monument, and city on both sides but you can't really tell.

We have also tried to go to the national mall area because as you can see it's beautiful. We brought a football down and played some catch with some friends, and took snooze on the grass.

Yesterday I went to my car only to find that there was a shocking amount of bird poop all over my car. It al happened over night, and my car looks disgusting. Just on my back windsheild there well over 20 spots, and then you have the sides of my car. What the heck?!?

Las but not least the YW were in the stake talent show and did a dance, it was fun to see them. When I was taking one of them home after one of there practices she said this is something she looked forward to most each year. They did a great job!

This past week we had a wonderful time having Tyer and Kelly in town. We went to a lot of good restaraunts, saw some sites (they saw a lot with out us), it was so fun to have them in town. We were sad to see them leave!

This past week we learned something...there is a reason we Mormons have been asked to do food storage. So in DC we just had the biggest snow storm this century, and in prepaation for it, they talked a lot about it coming last week. On thursday I decided to go grocery shopping before the storm. Well all of DC thought the same. I went to the 1st grocery store and there were no carts, it was so jammed packed,the lines were out of control. I left immediatly and went to another store around the corner. I was able to find a cart so I started my shopping only to find the shelves were practically empty. The produce department was bare,the meats were almost gone, it was crazy to see. The lines were out of control, and it was packed. I left there too, I coudn't handle it. I found out the next day that some people got in a fight over Produce, yes produce. It made me realize that in a serious disaster people get restless and mean. Which is why if something serious did happen I would like to know I didn't need to go fight the crowds. We are officially starting our food storage now! The storm came and went, over 200,000 people lost power..we didn't, it snowed between 20-30 depending on where you lived. They had organized snow ball fights in dupont circle! For the second week in a row church has been cancelled too.

We ventured out for a little walk around the neighborhood after he snow stopped to see the damage, it was really beautiful!

Only around 40 days till Spring!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!

I got to go to Arizona and visit family. Unforunatly Bryan coudn't come, hopefully next time. While I was in town my neice Nyah had her first B-day Party. She picked up her whole cake and cradled it in her arms and took little bites from it. It was so cute!

In church I work with the Laurels, and before I left to AZ they wanted to have a photo shoot. They wanted it inside with pretty sheets and what not. They had a lot of fun, and it was fun to see them get all excited about it. They are such good girls!

I was running a little late for church this morning, and ond once I arrived to church Iwas not able to find any parking ANYWHERE! Our church building doesn't actually have parking, it is just street parking, and you find any place available. Finally I had to park in paid undercover parking and walk about 2 blocks to church in 15 degree weather. So yes church cost me $4 today, as you can imagine this was a little annoying, but as the sunday went on I felt more and more grateful for the experiences we are having here that we will never get again. Our ward had our Christmas program today because we got snowed out the Sunday we were supposed to have it. The readings were all done by people who have been baptized in the last year. In 2009 we had 38 baptisms. The primary kids got up to sing, there is about 10 in all, with all different ethnicities and backgrounds. Then the French choir got up and sang, (we have a french branch within our ward) not the best choir in the world, but it was so good, because you could feel them trying to share there testimony through song. I loved that the lady next to me today kept out loudly agreeing to all the things said example person on stand "we all need christ in our lives" lady next to me "mmm hmmm you bet we do" and so on! We have a ward that is very diverse, and very cutural, and it was expressed so beautifully today. At the end a couple was leaving us, so as tradition when anyone is moving we all stand up and sing God be with you till we meet again, which always makes me tear up! I guess what I have learned is that God loves all His children, and even though we all have different walks of life, different skin color, different languages, different trials, and family situations we are all the same in that we are all children of God.

This last week my parents were around, and we were able to do so much fun stuff! I felt like I was on vacation

And went on a Ferry ride to national harbor where they have the only peep store in America!

We went to a play at the Ford theatre, behind us is where Abrahm Lincoln was killed

We went around an saw all the Christmas trees and a little ice skating to bring in the New Year, thank goodness there were no catastropies on the ice!

This is just a little sample platter of all we fit in, it was so fun, this is such a neat place.

For our 4 year anniversary we went to Old Town Alexandria for dinner, and to walk around. It is the cutest little town, it's a lot like Georgetown, just not as crowded. It had a ton of restraunts around and shopping, and a beautiful water front of the Potomac.

It was a beautiful water front table, and the food was wonderful!

Can't believe it's been four years!

We will definitely be going back to Old Town, it was so cute, and it felt like we were on vacation.

SNOW DAY!!!

Well we woke up this morning to so much snow! The service project we had going on today has been canceled, and I'm assuming our double date to see the temple lights will be too! The snow just won't stop.

We decided to make a big breakfast of eggs and hashbrowns, and bacon, and stay inside and listen to christmas music, and enjoy the saturday we have together. We don't get many of them.

DC got it's first snow day last weekend, it started as rain as I went to the grocery store, and when I got out it was snow. I actually liked it, I listened to Christmas music all day, it just brought that christmas cheer, I'm just glad it's not as bad as those Utah pictures I'm seeing, now that looks cold! I had my last day of clinicals at the hospital today! Can't believe it's already over, one semester of nursing school down (well almost, I have my final monday) 3 to go, and I'm loving it!

Would you believe me if I told you that the hat was fake and the sun glasses were too??? Probably not because I just found this real life photo thing on my computer that makes it look like you are in exotic places wearing really cool things. Here I am on a stage. As much as it looks like it, I'm actually not at a carnival and I'm not in the military.

I was so impressed by these pictures and how real life they look that I would suggest it for stacey and geoff then they wouldn't have to worry about always finding new locations

This past weekend we decided to check out Virginia Beach and see if it's a place we'd like to come back to when the weather is actually warm. The decision is we will definitely be back, we had a great time! This is a terrible picture, but they put Christmas lights up the beach front for 3 miles which was pretty cute. This was Sunday, the weather actually got up to 70, and we went back and changed into our swim suites and got some sun. It felt so good, both of our skin has been in hiding from the sun for too long!

Although we were sad we didn't get to go home for Thanksgiving, we made the best of it and decided to make our own dinner. Everything turned out pretty good, and we had another couple over to enjoy it with us. We did the whole pumpkin pie thing too. I didn't have evaporated milk so I used skim milk and they still turned out ok suprisingly!

A year ago from today, me and Bryan were here in Washington DC for his interview. This interview was the last of 12 in less than a month, and Bryan had gotten little sleep, little food, and some seriously high stress. We didn't get to our hotel till after 2 in the morning because we got lost, on top of not getting much sleep before. This is him before he went to his interview a year ago. He said this place was a long shot, but he'd give it a try anyways. As you all know despite these things it went well, and we are very happy it did because DC is awesome. Now he's on the other side of it all, interviewing not the interviewer and man is it a much better side to be on for him. Here he is getting ready to go and see who the next years possibilities will be.

A few weekends ago Bryan and Shelly got to come down and visit us. We fit in as much as we could in a weekend (including sleeping in). Tried some good restaurants, did some site seeing, and played games. Everything was great except for a disturbing story they told us about an 8 year old girl who still breast feeds... still can't shake that one off. This is 2 Amy's and amazing pizza place, if you ever come down we suggest you try it out.

So pretty much DC this time of year is absolutely beautiful!

So now we need to just enjoy it because before we now it it is going to be COLD!

Bryan only has one more call on Friday before his Anesthesia starts which means NO CALL FOR NOVEMBER!!! YEAH!

We have had such a fun time with the Stevens! (they're still here till tomorrow) We are so glad they got to come and visit. We were going to go to a restaraunt by the white house, and the wait was an hour so we put our names in and went on a 45 min walk. When we got back we still had a good 45 minute wait so we decied to go eat somewhere else. We never found a parking spot to go somewhere else and ended up ordering papa johns and went home! Thats what can happen in big cities

This weekend we had the priviledge of having both of our parents in town, and we had a blast with them! Bryan actuall was not on call this weekend, which hasn't happened since Tyler's wedding and I was out of town for it, so it was fun! These are some spanish dancers doin there thing. Today was our first day at the hospital. This is my clinical group for the semester, and my instructer is the one standing. They are all a lot of fun to work with, and we are all buds now! The guy taking the picture went a little crazy with the picture taking. On one of the cameras, he didn'tknow if it was taking and he took 13 pictures, another like 7 or 8, and on mine he took 3.

Just because we haven't blogged in a little bit does not mean that we haven't been doing anything, infact far from it! Last weekend my bro came in town, and literally fit in so much in a weekend. All the national mall stuff, arlington cemetary, mt vernon, meuseums, georgetown, ect... when we were in Georgetown we crossed over this bridge only to find that Ferris Bueller was being played in this big park, so we took a seat on the grass and finished it. On labor day me and bryan went back down town to walk around and the US NAVY band and singers were doing this big production which was really fun to watch! I have no pictures though, didn't bring the camera. Basically living in DC is awesome, and there is always something fun to do. We couldn't have picked a better city to live in. Oh, and the weather is starting to cool off, and a few leaves on the trees have changed there color. My first real fall. My nursing program started and I LOVE it! I am learning something new everyday, and it's very hands on which I love. As busy as I am i still feel like I am standing still compared to Bryan. He's just a busy guy. So this weekend I went to Philadelphia to visit my brother. He is up there doing a rotation with a plastic surgeon. His land lord took us on a tour of all the tourist sites of Philladelphia. I started the trek in DC went through maryland delaware, and ended in Philly in 145 miles. It's crazy how close everything is around here! This is the famous Liberty bell

I should have known when my 6 inch turkey sub at subway was $8.10 that the travels were not going to go smoothly home. My flight to Vegas was 40 minutes behind which made me worried that I would miss my flight to DC. I should not have been worried because it was 2 hours delayed in Vegas. Once we pulled into DC the weather was to bad to get taxied into the terminal so we sat right outside of it for 50 minutes. I finally got off the plane at 2:00 AM and got my bag, slipped in the airport 3 times, because they were Zamboming the floor, and finally arrived home at 3:45 am and went to bed around 4:30 just in time to wake up to go to my CPR class at 8:00. Glad I'm home!

To some this may mean nothing, but with the family I grew up in it had a lot of meaning behind it. It's simply hand on forehead with fingers spread. This would be the sign given after one of us would, well you know, fart and we would hold it on our heads until everyone in the family followed with the same sign on there head. The last one to do it "ate it." So a typical scenario would be at dinner, and one of us would silently put our hand up, everyone would catch on, and when the last person did it we would all yell, YOU ATE IT. You never wanted to be this person. It's the same concept as not wanting to be the wrotten egg at the end of a race, you aren't sure exactly what it means to be the a wrotten egg but you know you don't want to be. (front View)

I finally found a JOB!!! I will be an oral surgery assistant! Go figure! I found the job on craig's list, but the surgeon happens to be one of the guys that interviewed Bryan on his interview here!

Well, we had another fun weekend in DC. We went and saw the new Harry Potter on Friday which we both loved! We celebrated my birthday early because Bryan is going to be on call for my birthday next saturday. I went to the Holocaust museum on saturday, while Bryan went to an implant confrence, and it is probably the sadest way I could have spent my saturday. It was very moving, and very sobering. We had some of the missionaries over from our ward for dinner as well! They were a lot of fun to have over. They gave a really great spiritual thought about opening our hearts to the spirit, and letting it lead our lives. He challenged us to really try and open our hearts to it.

We decided to spend our saturday going to Mt. Vernon. The drive there and back is SO pretty, and we've decied Virginia is probably one of the prettiest states in the country!

Bryan came up her to sit on a rock and look at the view only to find a gigantic snake right below him. This was not garden snake this was no joke-we didn't take a picture in fear it would jump out and attack us.
This was just a quick stop on the way home

These are some ugly little creatures we saw just hanging out. We hope this isn't what the little mouse we found in our house last night will grow up to become-that is if he can withstand the temptation of the mouse poisin we put out for him to nibble on-we're sorry little mouse in our house but we are out to kill you.

This was just a cute path we saw, but there were paved bike trails that went on for miles-we both wished we had a bike to use on them

Here is George Washington's house. We also went on a slave tour that talked all about the slaves of George Washington, it was really interesting. When he was 11 his Dad died so he inherited like 12 slaves that he owned. I can't imagine being a man having to listen to orders from a 12 year oldIts been fun to experince all this history stuff.

This is the view washington had outside his back porch. I guess this makes up for having anouthouse as a bathroom. Oh, and laundry back then was considered a dangerous task.

All in all another weekend well spent in DC! This was much needed considering Bryan went to work Thursday at 6:30am and returned home Friday around 4:00pm he slept from 3:00 am to 5:00 am-not to mention getting home around 10:30 monday, 9:45 tues, and 8:00 wed. and leaving around 6:30 each morning -he came home and crashed!

So here is our church building. It looks like a house but then sure enough there is the church of Jesus Christ of LDS sign on the front! Our ward is extremely multicultural, and it is going to be a great experience. There is no parking lot so you have to find a spot somewhere in the neighborhood. The temple here is amazing too, but I forgot my camera when I got to go. We fell so blessed to be close to a temple. It was a 50/50 shot with the places we applied to.

A Capital Fourth! This picture does not even slightly compare to how amazing the fire works were here in DC. We Started the day by going to some museums, and having potbelly sandwiches and salads which are unbeatable. We then made our way over to the capital building where there were live performances by none other than Barry Manilow. Another person there to celebrate the day was Arithra(I don't know how to spell her name) Franklin, some people from Jersey boys, and a few more people singing and I quote "feel good american songs." It was really fun and the weather was amazing and the end all with the fireworks was a nice topping to the day.
The capital was packed with people!

Well, they wern't kidding when they said it would be alot of hours! Bryan's first day was wednesday and he left at 6:00am and got back at 7:30. Not to mention his orientation the night before that got him home at 9:00 at night. Today he left at 6:30am and he will get back tomarrow at 2:00ish-He loves the program though, loves the things he is learning-or will learn- and loves the people he is working with. I've taken this time to do some sight seeing and getting things together at home. My summer school starts monday which will be good.
